How we count
A page view is a successful HTML GET response on the public site, including this page. Assets, feeds, health checks, errors, redirects, HEAD requests and admin pages are excluded. Bots are included.
A unique visitor is a distinct client IP within a UTC day, estimated using a random daily salted hash. Shared networks can count as one visitor; changing IPs can count more than once. User-agent uniques are distinct IPs per agent, so their sum can exceed the daily total. Missing client IPs add views only.
Traffic accounting uses no cookies and stores no raw IP addresses. Current-day identifiers, salts and hourly data are deleted after the day ends; only daily totals and the top 100 user-agent counts remain. User agents are limited to 512 characters. Today’s data is available to the authenticated administrator.
